POSTER DESIGN —2023
Role
Designer
Tools
Illustrator/Photoshop
Duration
4 weeks
This project involved designing a poster for the Dawson College Graphic Design Vernissage 2023, an event that is held each year in order for the graduating class to show off the work and the skills they have cultivated over their three years in the program.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
This project is held every year for third-year Graphic Design students. It serves not only as a way for the students to gain poster design experience but also as an opportunity for the program to develop a concept for the year-end vernissage. Every third-year student is asked to create a poster with a concept that reflects not only the program as a whole but also what the three years in the program have meant to us. The final poster is voted on by both the program faculty and the students.
PROCESS
During the original brainstorming and preliminary sketching stage, several concepts were considered, but ultimately, the concept of 'Monumental' was chosen. The associated concept for this poster came from the fact that everyone had put so much hard work into their projects over the three years, as well as the time and effort that was put into planning this vernissage. The idea was that this event (our vernissage) was going to be a "bigger-than-life" event. Hence the decision to move foward with the word, MONUMENTAL!
ANGELA'S TAKEAWAYS
Creating this poster had me using and exploring different features in illustrator that I had never really gotten the chance to use.
