This project involved designing a poster for the Graphic Design Vernissage, an event that is held each year in order for the graduating class to show off the work and the skills they have cultivated over their three years in the program.
One of the challenges of this project was finding a way to represent this concept in a poster that would be visually striking and show the idea of something “big.” I experimented with various ways to do a three-dimensional treatment of the word. Little did I know how challenging distributing the word “Monumental” was, it being such a long word with an uneven number of letters. After a number of digital sketches, separating the letters, playing with the sizes of the 3D letters and pushing the letters to the margins of the page, I found a solution that worked and gave the poster a dynamic effect.
As a result, the slight variation of blues found within the poster, presented with the orange and white text coupled with the blocky letters gives the poster a fun and striking look.
